Hey everyone, the arrival of the next DU8SHOW, Episode 13 is bringing another sweet latin mix.  I've compiled some of the best dancing, underground latin house from DJ Sneak, Alan Barratt, Armand van Helden and Louis Vega.  Those who know their house will feel right at home with this set.  Also, there are some great remixes by Blaze, David Pacheco as well some sweet DJ Sneak remix salsa action happening.  Summer is almost coming to a close here in Toronto but we're still having beautiful weather and surely, a lasting latin house set will keep us city party people kicking into September.

Latin House Jam: the DU8SHOW Podcast Episode 12 - Legacy Set!

Hey House Lovers, as the long weekend comes to a close, I've come to bring you a special set with some amazing house tracks that are sure to get you moving for the next long while.  Legacy Sets don't come around all that often but when they do, they are in great demand and they're always keepers.  Today's mix is no exception.

Some of the tracks I had to dig deep down inside the archive to put together but it didn't take very long before everything was mixed up and sounding like heaven!  I'm bringing some interesting old-skool Latin-house tracks like Afro-Cube's Sugar Cane; Bajo Mix, A Mijangos Latin House mix of Joe Arroyo's La Toruga, Fiasco's Las Mujeres (Salsa fans should recognize this one), a crazy Axwell remix of Louie Vega's Dance Ritual, DJ Sneak's bread-and-butter classic beats with Salsa Elektrika, as well as two sweet Yoruba Mixes of Ben Westbeech's So Good Today and Bah Samba's Tired Lil' One.

In addition, I also had to bring in a great classic house track by Robert Owens mixed by Filsonik called Deep Down; really nice tune. In closing, I threw in a beautiful retro track by Pamela Joy called Think Fast as a cooldown with infectious vocals.

Party for the Weekend: the DU8SHOW Podcast Episode 11's Opening and Main Sets!

Hey everyone, I hope everyone is having a great weekend because it's going to get a lot better.  Today, I'm dropping both the opening and main sets for the DU8SHOW's 11th Podcast.  It's a bread-and-butter two-parter that has a beautiful mix of tracks throughout.

While the opening set is great for texture at the beginning of the night, the main set has a mix of truly nice house vocally tracks but with a dash of deep house elements.  Remixes come in the way of Pepe Braddock, Smokin' Beats, Yoruba, and Soul Minority.  The one track that I put at the very end is a long-time favorite by Arvid with Ernesto (from Ernesto VS Sebastian) called 'Try'.  It's a beautiful track remixed by Landshark who touches the track with a nice afterhours vibe to it.

All around great sets, easy listening.  I'm already hard at work with the offerings for Episode 12 which is sure to please.  I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the visitors from all over the world showing their support.  I really and truly appreciate it and I'd like to give a shout out to all the DU8SHOW fans listening in Belgium, United States, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Costa Rica, Peru, Egypt, Greece, Japan and Singapore!

Hey party people! In time for the weekend I'm bringing a nice funky house mix today with a great mix of the essentials that are sure to keep you dancing in the best way possible. The DU8SHOW Podcast B is a Funky House compilation that is great for a relaxing drive home or to get yourself in a partying mood for the early evening. Let's get started:

I've started it out with one of my favorite house-mixed artists, Jamiroquai with Blow My Mind, a Dr. Kucho staple remixing Bamboola Production's Bahia, a rare-gem by little know group; Flanders bringing By My Side, some Gregor Salto and DJ Madskills treatment of the hit Very Nice People track called I'll Make You High. Then we bring in some latin flavor through Knee Deep with a remix of the Dubtribe Sound System's hit; Do It Now, then we go into a nice Dawn Tallman gem called I'm Over It, then we have an amazing Fred Everything remix of a Kings of Tomorrow track; Another Day, with a great Missy Elliott dub of Bring the Pain whereby we close with Random Factor's Without You remixed by the Inland Knights.

Electro and Tribal House to the Max: Lobby Essentials (Cheaters Club Mix)!

As the weekend winds down, I have a brand new Lobby Essentials set called the Cheaters Club Mix. This mix is a bit of an adventure for the electro fans and since it has been a while since I threw down some tribal house, I fused it in with some pretty solid tracks to keep you moving throughout the week.

First off, since I don’t usually play tribal, it would be fitting that I mention these tracks first: we have some D-Formation remixed by a master of his craft; Victor Calderone remixing a rare track called The Third Dimension, Jesse Garcia has always been a tribal favourite with his ultra-popular Tribal Spain series bringing you Vol. 6 called Talkin’ About House, and you guys know I like to put in some Deep South with the original Miami fix of Tribal America. With this kind of tribal, you of course need some Wally Lopez remixing some Tiesto and you can’t go wrong with Chus & Cebellos with a really sweet track called So Far Away off of the original vinyl. All of this great tribal is wrapped up in some pretty nice electro with a huge Raul Rincon remix of Yves LaRock’s Rise Up, an Axwell remix bomb of Pharrell’s Angel, Laidback Luke tweaks a nice TV Rock vibe with hidden gem Duke of Windsor’s The Others and nothing goes into heavy tribal set like some Robbie Rivera where I put in some Mario OchoA (8A) with the megahit; The Dubai Track.

This set is a great party set as it is one of the essential sets for you collection and is definitely a keeper. Not many of my sets have such a mind-bending mix of Electro, Tribal and ending off with some banging latin house tracks; I mean, I have Saxo at the end! (When was the last time you raised your hands to that beat?) Enjoy this set and don’t let anyone make you turn it down!

diplomatico brings the heat, Latin style: DU8SHOW Episode 46 (Latina Heat Club Set)!

Hey everyone, it’s time for Episode 46 of the DU8SHOW and following up Friday’s Designer Set, I’ve done another great latin house set that will sure to keep you dancing non-stop. The Latina Heat Club Set is one of my marquee latin house sets which those who have heard me live know all too well as I’ve included that absolute essentials that should be played in a club to get the night started and well into the beginning of the pick-up for electro or even tribal.

This set includes some well known tracks including a dance remix of Aventura’s Obsession, the Sergio Flores remix of Yves LaRock’s hit Zookey and Armand van Helden’s Entre Mi Casa. Other tracks that might garner some attention would be a Major Boy’s gem called Panamerica and Barillas’ Andale giving the latin house vibe with some degree of authority. Rounding off the mix is a rare Afrika System track called Anikanao, a way-back playback house version of Lambada and of course we can’t forget the classic house smash-hit Shake It from Jark and Prongo from the yellow vinyl we DJs all remember. Yes, mine’s still scratched to hell.

I’m pleased to bring you these great latin house sets and they truly are lost gems as Electro has taken over and going above and beyond everything in the scene today. But those who know what to start the night off with, especially on a boat party or patio, will go with the latin house essentials and these are the tracks that’ll sure please the crowd, guaranteed. Hey everyone, the weekend is finally here and I have an amazing set for you guys as I’m bringing the next Designer set of 2009 with the Gucci Samba Mix! This has some ‘booze cruise’ latin house inspired tracks for those who have a small yacht that want to have their party bumping. In diplomatico tradition, this mix is sure to please.

Welcoming 2009: A New Year and a Surprise!

Happy New Year all! It's good to see that everyone made it. I mentioned a surprise and I have something for you. The 42nd Episode of the DU8SHOW will be featured on YouTube. This was a promotional project that I've been working with most recently and I was trying hard not to release it sooner. This is an evolution of the DU8SHOW but I feel that I'm not completely satisfied with it. For one, it's not the mixes themselves, it was adapting the mixes to a different medium. The reality of making anything on YouTube is that you have limits on how long videos can be. As a result, I had to split the files up to get it up and running. I tried to split the mix as best as I can but I have alternatives for those who want the music by itself.

I intended the videos to be very simple, like the format of my regular podcasts, as well as have some color.

DU8SHOW Episode 42 is a special edition of the podcast that will be featured on YouTube. There are three mixes with a special compilation of songs that I feel are representative of the type of house music I play and of course, something that brings the essence of the DU8SHOW.

These are promotional videos that I created with some of the work I do on this site and I will only release one more video in this format. In the next couple of days, I'm going to release a video version of DU8SHOW Episode 22 (Sunrise Mix). So stay tuned!

As a special Christmas gift to all those who just got new netbooks, MP3 players (and related accessories), mobile phones and stereos and I gave you some great mixes to break the new devices in. It's a little something that I thought most of you would appreciate since it is rather difficult to find just the right thing to enjoy new toys but for the house music lovers, I have you covered.

For today's show there is quite an interesting mix of songs as I've retrofitted both sets for DU8SHOW Episode 41 for those who seek a soulful and upbeat tracklist that brings the best in loungy house. For starters I've included a great deal of Miguel Mig's tracks from the Petalpusher sleeve which are among my personal favorite and are lovingly played in a great deal of lounges and special patio parties. In addition, I've included tracks from Louie Vega, a remix by Midnight Societey and a remix gem of Seal's Get It Together. The Aftershow is a concept mix where I've included similarly themed loungy and latin house that delves into the tribal sound. To solidify the vibe, I've put in some Mastiksoul, Axwell, Mojo Project, Chocolate Puma, Bob Sinclair and for good measure, I've finished off the set with Tom Novy's smash hit; Your Body.

While I'm going to subdue the site with just music, I am looking forward to bringing new and exciting changes to the site over the next couple of weeks. I'm pleased to find that many people are finding this site and enjoying the music and it excites me further that with the new ideas that I have for the podcast and the site, I will be announcing some changes that are going to take place in the upcoming new year. Overall, I'm pleased with how everything is turning out and I hope everyone's been enjoying the show thus far. Block Party with DU8SHOW Episode 13th with Latin Essentials CD Vol. 4!

Hey guys, it’s time for the 13th Episode of the DU8SHOW and I will admit, this particular number made me rather nervous. After all, Microsoft is releasing their next Office suite as version 14 because 13, which would’ve been the number of their release after Office 2007 was deemed as bad luck. I will also admit that I’m not all that superstitious myself so for today’s post there is a great line-up.

The DU8SHOW, as the format as come to be in the past while, is supplemented with an Opening Set that has a few tracks you might not have heard (or heard in a while) like Bassment Jaxx’s Hush Boy, the Junior Jack remix of You Make Me Want to Be A Man sans the vocals and DJ Jose’s Hecitate. As for the regular show, I have a nice Electro set with an up-to-date line-up of nice Electro tracks including some a Sharam remix of a nice Kylie tune, Robyn with the Seamus and Haji treatment, one of the new ones from Cedric Gervais and one of my personal favourites; the Goldenboy and Miss Kitten bomb aptly named ‘Rippin Kitten’ remixed by Deux. A nice set I threw together for today. And last but certainly not least is my 4th Volume of the DU8SHOW Essentials Experimental CD with a latin flair for those who want to drive with the top down and the house music blaring. You can’t go wrong with a base of Bob Sinclair favourites, Tim Deluxe, Claude Monnet, Spiller and even some Rosabel Cha Cha Heels! Directions: Pump the Volume and Dance where necessary.

In a couple of weeks time, I’m going to release a final cut of all the CDs so you guys can archive them appropriately and have complete sets for your MP3 players or, more so, your cars. And since it has been a while since I posted, expect another post tomorrow and Sunday with more mixes as I dip into the archives to bring you guys some of the classic sets. Stay tuned and enjoy!

Sample Wednesdays: 'Art of House' Concept and Jamiroquai Megamix!

Hey everyone, hope all is doing well in this week so far. Today is going to be a good day for those who have been waiting for the Jamiroquai Megamix as I have an early draft of the set in the flesh posted. Honestly, I’ve been trying time and time again to get a good draft of this set and it has been next to impossible. First, I should say that this was probably one of the most difficult mixes as the majority of Jamiroquai’s songs were prime time songs. I had a similar problem with the Madonna Megamix and often times they’re usually difficult to put together because usually these songs weren’t meant to be played one after another. The way I curbed this problem was to reach deep into the record stash and find all the remixes which thankfully had a great deal of variety. Jamiroquai remix work spans quite a wide spectrum as notable artists such as Danny Tenaglia, Roger Sanchez, Masters at Work and Tom Belton just to name a couple. Now, this is an early set which isn’t representative of the Megamix that I’ll official post in the near future. Next is the introduction of a new series that I’m going to be working on along with the DU8SHOW and that is called ‘Art of House’. Basically, I’ve been re-listening to all the tracks that I have and I’m starting to compile special mixes which has mostly underground songs and commercial songs with underground work done to them. I wanted to have a nice set of exclusive mixes where I specialized in the various sounds of house throughout its history and at times warp to the future with some new music thrown into the mix. In the end I’ll be moving towards an special collection of a series of mixes that will be very unique. Stay tuned!
